Carla Bruschi

Love will save the world: Carla Bruschi is a painter who transfers onto her canvases the disorder, the disorientation that current issues arouse in her.

Carla Bruschi’s artistic journey began at a young age, and from the outset, her painting doesn’t just explore forms but the spirit animating them. She attended free courses at the Brera Academy. Throughout her career, she has depicted her reality in her artworks, tainted by the human limits a courageous woman encounters on her path to self-determination in modern society. Even as she enriches her work with new expressive formulas integrating materials like stones, broken mirrors, and fabrics, she delves deeply into the feelings of those around her, interpreting the major themes of the present day.

Enchanted by the beauty and creativity of the fashion world, she creates clothing, accessories, and furnishings. Her search for new expressive forms gave birth to “Aliens, wearable art”: a jewelry collection Carla meticulously composes, piece by piece, driven by instinct, the pleasure of touch, and empathy with everything intangible and unknown that touches her.

She has exhibited her artworks in top national and European galleries. Recognition as a versatile artist came with her last two Milan exhibitions, sponsored by the Lombardy Region: in 2015 at the Tadini Museum House and in 2016 at the Umanitaria Society. Critics and the public have acknowledged Carla’s great ability to critically and positively interpret our time.

In 2019, the Bulgari Foundation donated one of Carla Bruschi’s artworks to the new arts and crafts school in Ostia, dedicated to disadvantaged children and young people, created by the NGO Save The Children. In 2019, in Venice during the Biennale, Carla Bruschi participated in a collective exhibition at Palazzo Zenobio.

In 2020, an exhibition is scheduled at the Chamber of Deputies with the social project “Women at Risk”. In September 2020, during the Venice Film Festival, two of her works were chosen for display at the Venice Art Gallery, garnering critical acclaim.

For the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death, a canvas by Carla Bruschi was selected to participate in the illustrated representation of the Divine Comedy promoted by art critic Giorgio Gregorio Grasso, at Palazzo Rocca Brivio Sforza in San Giuliano Milanese in July 2021.

In the summer of 2022, with the solo exhibition titled “I Will Speak to You of Love,” the artist exhibited her works at the Ravenna Art Gallery. In October of the same year, she participated in a collective exhibition at the Monza International Art Gallery.

In September 2023, at the Milan Stock Exchange in Palazzo Mezzanotte, the exhibition “The Silence of the Last Ones” was held, featuring Carla Bruschi’s gold-backed protest paintings. The exhibition showcased 20 works in which Carla Bruschi denounces poverty and the contradictions of the contemporary world. The conference “Solidarity, legal, economic, moral, and statistical category,” which opened Carla Bruschi’s exhibition in the Excavation Hall, received the Apostolic Blessing of Pope Francis.

The print media, online magazines, and TV have repeatedly reviewed Carla Bruschi’s works, appreciating the contemporary and modern edge of her art. Today, a Google search of her name yields countless citations.

Momenti

La speranza

Always attentive to the contemporary, in the darkest moments when the pandemic did not seem to stop, the painter Carla Bruschi was able to transform the melancholy of the moment into a message of hope for all humanity.

Amore

This series of drawings by Carla Bruschi is completely dedicated to love,  the texts are by Carla and Grazia Bruschi. The works were created during the first lockdown of 2020, and are the subject of the artist’s reflection on the feeling of love that binds even the most distant people with the impetus and passion that only women are able to convey with their looks.

Tatuaggi dell’anima

Special series created for the wedding of Carla and Gian Stefano, Milan 9 June 2022.

Cavallieri

The twenty-three paintings in the series created in 2016 represent Knights at the time of the Crusades, placed in a current context, made chaotic by the continuous media exposure to which we are subjected. Crusader Knights or Moors from distant countries, with their contradictions, who stand as champions of the values of our culture and our history. The ability to anticipate and read contemporaneity, in a moment where the great problems that grip our time cause fear and anxiety to many people

Fiabe

An extraordinary creative moment by the artist, it gave life to a unique and unrepeatable series of contemporary art paintings. Carla Bruschi has revisited the classic children’s fairy tales in her own way, contrasting those fairy worlds with the contradictions of modern-day consumerism. The protagonists of this parallel world created by the multifaceted and eclectic painter from Piacenza by birth and Milanese by adoption, measure themselves against our world, which is fast and always in a hurry.
