Raul Orvieto

The artist of sustainability

Born in Rapallo on 07/24/1966, landscape designer and wildlife artist, he is a “Signaturemember” of the American Society of Animal Artists (SAA).

Sensitive to environmental issues, he is particularly linked to aquatic ecosystems and his artistic production is mainly focused on the representation of marine creatures and their environment. Artistic themes of denunciation often appear in his works and he collaborates in fundraising with famous international associations for the protection of wildlife.

His works have been published several times in national newspapers and magazines and are exhibited in national and international art galleries.

One of his works (Triple R) is used for the cover of the December 2021 Pianeta Azzurro magazine.

In June 2022, the Galata Museo del Mare in Genoa chose to exhibit its work “Triple R”, which denounces marine pollution from plastics: positioned near the entrance, the work welcomed visitors, underlining the firm will of the Museum Institution to protect marine ecosystems and inform about the urgency of the problem.

In the same period he was a guest on the television program Geo, where he spoke about his environmentalist-themed sculptures and the strong international media response they aroused.

During the summer of 2022 he exhibits a solo exhibition entitled “WildWaste” in the Liguria room at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, as part of the Biofilia art and environment Biennial, curated by Maurizio Gregorini.

In August 2022 he was a guest artist and speaker at the Blue Festival in La Spezia, demonstrating the use of art for environmental issues.

In September 2022 he exhibited three works at the Genoa Boat Show on behalf of Banca Carigene in the VIP entrance-lounge area; he also exhibits two works at the Monaco Montecarlo Yacht Show on behalf of RINA.

Due to the high artistic value and artistic content expressed by his works, he was invited by the Italian Delegation of the European Commission to exhibit a solo exhibition on an environmentalist theme entitled Kind of Blue, which was held in Rome at the Spazio Europa of the European Parliament from 15 February to 15 April 2023, and then move to the Europe experience David Sassoli multimedia space of the European Parliament until 15 June 2023

The exhibition had the collaboration and support of Bper Banca.

One of his works entitled Mare nostrum is in the permanent collection of the Omero State Tactile Museum in Ancona.

One of his floating installations entitled The Monster from the Abyss built with abandoned nets and fishing floats is exhibited on a floating platform in front of the Galata Museo del Mare in Genoa and was one of the official artistic representations of the Ocean race regatta which had Genoa as its final stop .

One of his works was recently published in the Swiss cultural weekly Woz (Wochenzeitung).
